Only Alberta publishes a cause breakdown for its wildfires. Arson is 2.6% of the burned area and 95% of that is a single 2019 fire. Powerlines burned more. A fifth has no cause in Alberta's own file — though federal, B.C. and national-composite records name one for 96% of it.
