Canada holds 61% of Lake Huron, the most of any Great Lake

Huron is the most Canadian of the Great Lakes. Its 36,550 km² on the Canadian side are 40.8% of all the Great Lakes surface Canada holds (89,664 km²), more than any other lake. Georgian Bay and the North Channel are counted as part of Lake Huron here, and both sit entirely on the Canadian side. Huron shares one water level with Lake Michigan: the provisional September 2026 Michigan-Huron level was 0.9 cm above its 1918–2025 September average (56th-highest of 109 Septembers).
