The Canadian economy in six numbers

The headline indicators economists actually watch — growth, prices, jobs, wages, trade — each pulled straight from Statistics Canada's own tables, with five years of history behind every number. Snapshot as of 18 July 2026.

Methodology. Each figure is the latest published value from the Statistics Canada table cited on its tile, retrieved through the StatCan Web Data Service. Seasonally adjusted series are used wherever StatCan publishes them (the average-hourly-wage series is not seasonally adjusted, so its month-to-month move is noisy — the year-over-year change is the signal). Inflation is the year-over-year change in the all-items Consumer Price Index. Each sparkline traces the last five years. This is a dated snapshot; an auto-updating edition will refresh each tile as its source table posts new data.
